This is hilarious. An eleven year old boy points out an error at the Smithsonian. The Precambrian was not an era, as was stated on a placard, but is a supereon. 8 hours of geology paying off, for once.

First it was the “Digg not saved, please reload” error that was pissing diggers off, but now you can’t even submit a new post without some random shitty error.
Don’t get me wrong. I love me some digging, but like the rest of us, I expect my free service to be flawless and instantly gratifying . . .
Here’s hoping the digg engineers can fix this soon. Ganbare Rev3!

I had to jump some hurdles to get to Vegas, but I didn’t realize how bad the trip back could have turned. I flew round trip on American Airlines, who announced over 400 delays and cancellations today. We had a big shoot in the afternoon so missing our flight would have been costly.
The plane ride back was pretty horrible, even if it was on time. I was seated in the last row of the plane, despite booking my flight two months earlier, and the plane stank like a dirty bathroom. We’ll see if AA even responds to my e-mail about the stench.

This cartoon from 2003 is as relevant today as the day it was made. The norm in the United States is still to outright lie to our children about the effects and results of drugs. Let’s be clear, weed isn’t a good idea, but it is less dangerous (to the user and society) than alcohol, cocaine, and many pharmaceuticals (ever read that list of side effects?).

When Ramengirl showed me a clip of The Mighty Boosh’s “Old Greg”, I had no idea how popular the clip was (I’m not a tubee). Apparently these guys loved the clip so much that:
update (4.15.8) - It’s spelled Old Gregg. Ooops.

First time blogging from high altitude. This post won’t post until I connect to the high speed in the hotel room, but what’s the difference? I wasn’t sure I was going to make it to Vegas. Internet thieves, Kafka-esque bank red tape, incompetence on my part (ask RamenGirl what driving me to the airport is like), and a delayed plane from St. Louis all banded together in an un-american show of solidarity to try and fuck me right out of a gig that won’t come around for a while if ever.
Las Vegas has never held any attraction to me outside of my appreciation of Soderberg films (and I use the term film loosely). But fun is fun (that’s right, fun is fun). Gambling has yet to pique my interest as well. Living in texas (not Texas), and not knowing or caring how to play any form of poker has already numbed me to the disbelief that I will encounter when I admit my lack of card playing knowledge. I’m going for work anyway. If I come home having lost an amount equivalent to my earnings I am allowed to come home and in good graces. If I lose more, look for a new web development company starting in Nevada. That might be easier than coming home empty handed.
Back to the high altitude reference: 45 minutes or so into a 3 hour sojourn. Looking out the window seat I’ve snagged, to the polite displeasure of an attorney from Louisiana, I have noticed now three wind farms. NPR would have me believe Texas is leading the nation in adoption and implementation of this anti-bird, pro-shit-ton-of-land-owner but I had never seen the proof. With only trips to the east coast in the last year, DC and Orlando, I guess I missed the wind belt in texas. Headed straight west is a different story. Out of the three farms I noticed, the largest appeared to have 13 or so turbines. The white towers held some contrast against the brown and green (kinda) background of the texan countryside, while the propellers powering each turbine were almost impossible to make out.
I realized I was viewing a wind farm when it occurred to me that utility poles aren’t massive white structures that only built in parallel and facing the south (in thw case of the last farm I noticed).
Time to wrap up this wordy post from the skies. Expect a running total of my wins and others’ losses.
Time for Vegas baby!
